The increasing demand for sustainable and clean energy has positioned wind power as a key element of Iran’s renewable energy strategy, particularly in the northern provinces, where wind conditions are favorable. This paper presents a comprehensive assessment of wind energy potential across northern Iran by integrating meteorological data, regional wind patterns, and energy generation models. The study identifies optimal locations for large-scale wind farm development through an analysis of spatial and temporal wind speed variations, as well as technological and environmental constraints. The estimated electricity generation from wind potential reveals significant untapped resources in the coastal and mountainous areas of northern Iran, which can contribute to clean energy supply. This potential supports Iran’s energy diversification and carbon emission reduction goals. Furthermore, this work provides a practical framework for energy policymakers and planners seeking to implement efficient wind energy projects and facilitate Iran’s transition toward sustainable electricity generation. To predict the amount of electricity generation from the wind energy potential, a simulation method based on the obtained statistical values is proposed. The results validate the accuracy of the presented method.
